well well, hello good morning! how are you doing? so i’m here that early to share with you the latest news on my designs shop, which has been evolving to a whole new level – illustration. but fear not, i’m a very good judge of my skills and i don’t share (or put to sell) every single trace i draw. the truth is i believe we can do everything we set our minds to. i was never able to draw that well and i have some stories in my academic path that were crucial for 1) the lack of confidence in drawing and 2) never trying that much because i always thought i couldn’t.
so bottom line, i never believed i could draw, i never tried it much and as you also probably know i found my creative self on my late 20’s, almost on the edge to the 30, so learning to draw was never that important to me. i started with photography, i learned and i still learn something new almost every day. then i developed my skills on graphic design and started doing some work for myself and later for clients. after graphic design, came web-design. also on the same path, first i learned what i had to learn in order to have my blog and portfolio, then clients started to ask for quotes and i started taking commissioned work.
and now i want to learn how to draw. i practice a lot, i print some of my favourite illustrations, i look and try to understand those, how the lines are drawn, the details, how the perspective is illustrated… i practice some more and mix some elements, like creating a story. then i keep practicing enough until i find my way to something (my personal way of drawing, my details, my stories) – usually a story or a quote. this is my process. i learn from others and then i create my own. but of course, there is still a long way to go from here.
i love the sweetness in these illustrations, the colours and i always picture them framed in a beautiful nursery room or little children room! those are the ones i have in mind when i draw. i keep in mind inspirational quotes like the amazing power of dreaming, or the also amazing power of being a child, like it was written on the little prince book! this last one with a shashta trailer inside a snow globe was sold yesterday to a lovely lady expecting a baby! as i would love to have one of these (or at least spend summer vacations on one of these) i imagined that it would be nice to put one inside a snow globe, as i always think snow globes carry our dreams!
you can look for these on my etsy shop and i hope to see you there!
