lisbon stories :: from lapa to santos

hello lovelies, how are you doing? how was your monday? i hope it was a good one! here i’ve been struggling with a lot of technical difficulties as my laptop is on his last breaths of air and it takes ages to do anything i tell him to. it gets so frustrating to work under these circumstances and as i work 80% of the time with editing programs, even that starts to feel frustratingly challenging, instead of amazingly challenging! but moving on, while i hope santa claus delivers a brand new imac on this house, let’s take a walk through the streets of lisbon, shall we? we haven’t done this in quite a while! last time we were in tapada das necessidades, which was a garden that surprised me so much! you should definitely take a look at this place! today we’ll be walking around lapa and santos.

but first an introduction, i was contacted a few months ago for some lisbon pictures for a magazine (i’ll get on that on a future post! but yay for me, of course!) and they had asked me for some pictures if the gorgeous lapa palace hotel. so there i went with my camera exploring that district, which is actually so beautiful and fancy. there are a lot of embassies there and overall there is this kind of elegant and very typical lisbon architecture. huge doors, really high ceilings, fancy windows and a breathtaking view over the tagus river.

i took the bus to rua das janelas verdes and went up ’til i found the lapa palace hotel, which is the pink building above. it’s so majestic, with the golden details, pink walls, huge windows and fancy lamps. it’s a beautiful 5 star hotel, with no doubt! i’d love to visit its interior, because the view to the tagus river must be quite amazing! did you know that this was built in the xix century? then i kept going around on those streets and found charming churches, windows, doors, tiles… all charming!

then i went down again towards the same street where i had started, passing through houses covered in ivy (i absolutely love that, in case you haven’t noticed yet!), enchanting hotel doors, like this red one below with the small tree above it. wouldn’t a bride look amazing in front of that door?

and then i ended up in santos, which is not my favourite side of the city, but has some interesting details as well! architecture is really typical, buildings are tall and there is an interesting choice of tile around as well! i’ll go back to take pictures of the theater, because that building is quite interesting as well, pretty much like cinema são jorge!
