no, i’m not talking about the skyscrapers, empire state building and chrysler, or all the tall buildings that we all know from the thousands of photos and hundreds of movies about new york. i’m talking about the beautiful architecture of not so tall buildings, the fire escapes, the colours, the brick buildings. i’m talking about soho and greenwhich village. for the day, i want to leave you with the most beautiful buildings i found in new york.
after visiting rockefeller center, times square, radio city music hall… and the crowded sidewalks, we went downtown to pursue my new glasses (on grant st) and crossed really quiet neighbourhoods, where we were almost the only ones walking on the street. and that made us suspect that we had left new york and didn’t notice at all! well, of course, we hand’t left new york, but we were just in a completely different area. really quiet, and the most common thing to see was someone walking a dog. that just made us miss mr kobe even more, needless to say!
after all new york is not only about tall buildings and large avenues, but has a certain romantic side, with three floor buildings, flowers on the balconies and sidewalks… new york has so much more than we think.
and these are also to show you that winter has also a magical light… happy weekend, my friends!

Love it, love the stairs, the architecture, the colours of the buildings, details people sometimes don’t even notice but that are actually part of the city. You really make NY unique :)

I love those type of homes! They have them all over San Francisco and Boston, too (they’re in a lot more cities than that though). I think they’re called brownstone/rowhouse. =)
