so, let’s talk about dogs, shall we? while we were gone in nyc, we let mr kobe with his vet, as it would be for quite a long time, and this mr jumps fences like it’s the easiest thing for him, so my in-laws feel safer if he is on the vet. and i must confess that leaving him behind knowing that we would be gone for 3 weeks was really hard… harder than any other time i left him behind for some short break. i fell apart in tears when i turned my back and went to my car. and this may sound a bit too much for some of you, but those who have dogs and spend the whole day with them, will probably understand. i have a very strong connection with mr kobe and i knew that at some point he would really miss us. and so he did. when we landed in lisbon, my in-laws were there with him waiting for us, and asides from all the trip mood (he still doesn’t enjoy traveling by car that much!) he was so apathetic and thin, that he didn’t even react when he saw us. he felt so anxious and nervous about being separated from us, that he scratched his paws on the floor making a whole… he was even able to jump a very high fence and climb to the rooftop twice… so just after we got home, he started slowly being himself. but i think that just during the weekend i was able to truly feel mr kobe as himself again!
nevertheless we had to celebrate a huge occasion last thursday, his first anniversary! to make him feel good again, i took a very long walk on his favourite park… played with him, and as soon as he got home, he was so tired that he had to took his nap… just like a sweet little puppy… like he was just a year ago!
happy birthday mr kobe! we love you very much and promise not to be away that long anymore!

Happy birthday Mr Kobe! Leaving them is always the worst thing… you are not the only one who cried when you left your puppy behind, I am the same way. But the important part is that you came back, and he know that you love him. xx
