…i was born in this family at 12h30. my mother was 35, my father was 36 and my brother was already a 9 year-old naughty boy! people always told me that i look like my mother… i always accepted that, though i never saw any of those similarities, like people would say. but now, looking at these pictures again, i think that they might be right. i always had a great relationship with my father, and a not that good with my mother. we always disagreed with each other in so many things… and it was so much easier to talk with my father. but now on my 31st birthday, i realize that i have many characteristics that come from my mother, some that go beyond the physical aspects. fortunately those that i like the most about her… i am always cheerful and smiling, i laugh easily… i am usually not shy, i always find my way to something, even when i do not know how, i figure out & ask questions… on the other hand, i also know that some of the less appreciated characteristics about my mother are on me as well, but as generations evolve, i learned to notice them and find my way to deal with them, so those do not cause any negative impact on my relationship with others.
and my father… well, we always had a great relationship. he was born in 1944, so he is not the greatest example when we think about sharing feelings and emotions, but i loved being with him and talking to him. i always felt that he understood me! unfortunately after the strokes, he is not the same dad i met, as he lost his memory and almost on his 70’s, his conversation skills are no longer the same… but he is my dad and i will always love him, for his huge heart and blue eyes!
with my brother was a whole different story! with 9 years of difference between us, he being so naughty and i always such a calm girl, it would take him not more than two seconds to really upset me, so we never got along that well! but then we both grew up… and now everything is different! we are not the best-friends of each other, but we do have our special relationship as brother & sister! mainly we make fun of our mom and laugh about it! and she laughs with us!
and this is my family… before i was born 31 years ago.

Just like me, except I’m the older sister. I only managed to get along with my mom when I left home and even today, when ‘m talking, I say the exact same things as her! But I’ll always be dady’s little girl, even at 38!!! Enjoy your day!

Happy, happy belated birthday, sweet friend!! I am so sorry I am late telling you! I hope you had a wonderful day celebrating! I love all your family photos and I am sure that we all would have things to say that are good and bad about our families. They are the ones that teach us the most yet we also gain insight into ourselves from them as well. I tell my husband quite often as we watch our kids grow that it is with family that our kids can try things, fail, succeed, laugh, cry, hurt, fear, and so much more… but all within the context of love. We cannot help but love our families, despite their imperfections and short comings, and find ways to celebrate the wonderful things that they are as well! Big, big birthday hugs from Copenhagen!!!
