{wednesdays on etsy} :: the coupon codes

November 2, 2011 filed under: hello twiggs personal, inspire, shop, wednesday find

hello there, how are you? first i would like to thank for all your support and sweet messages and emails on this {post}! you make me smile every time you say that you are relating to something i am sharing! as a blogger, that is exactly what i wish for every day… to connect to whoever reads this blog! that is why i am so devoted to read your answers to the survey, because they make me think about what i do as a blogger and what i want to do. just as life takes its course, my role as a blogger has changed while time went by… and i accept that in a very natural way.

though i think i might keep the survey until at least the end of the year, i will start to think about some changes and also start to take some advises i received. one i particularly loved when i asked about the schedule of this blog, was someone answering that the schedule was very nice, but i should also keep it as comfortable for me as possible, as it is my blog, after all. so i will take that one in consideration and start today with a different post. today is about findings on etsy, but instead of searching for a really cool shop, i am going to mention what etsy has been changing around and what pleases me! just because i know many of you want to start an etsy adventure.

so, i have already shared with you my doubts about etsy, well… my doubts about etsy, regarding every other online markets out there. however, though i have not been so serious as i am on etsy, i must say that etsy is still my favourite. it is the strong community sense that keeps me there and their effort to keep things cool for us! among many changes they have been making in these last months, one that i am trying starting today is coupon codes. i had heard about it, but had never tried them on! so… now i have a coupon! how does this work?

>> a coupon is a discount or free shipping coupon, either way you will have a discount on your item or you have free shipping. seller choose which one to have, or perhaps it might have both and then the buyer might choose which one is better.

>> a coupon is a code you can add when you are buying something. assuming that you are already registered on etsy, you find a beautiful item you love, click “add to cart” and then according to your address, shipping costs will be calculated. before clicking “check out to paypal” you have the option to “apply shop coupon code”. you write the code the seller has shared on the shop, blog or even newsletter, and your total costs will be calculated again. and then, you might check out for payment. here is a step-by-step screen print!

so this is perfect for us sellers, instead of changing names and prices on every single item, if we want to run a sale. so, as i will be flying to new york on december 16th and as post offices start to get a lot slower by this time of the year, i am running this sale until november 16th, so that we can make sure all orders made until that day will arrive your lovely home before christmas eve. so, what do you think? as an etsy seller, are you using or have you used coupon codes? would you like to share your opinion & experience?

    Hello Claudia,

    I’ve used coupon codes before and think they are really hepful ( for us sellers on managing the store as you say and for customers who save money :)
    I’m running a sale now on my etsy store: free shipping worldwide. The coupon code is FREESHIPPING. Have a look and receive at home an original hand knitted piece without paying the shipping costs.
