last weekend i was all alone with mr kobe! mr twiggs had to spend the weekend away and we had the weekend for ourselves. well, that usually means that i spend two days working on my blog + etsy shops + portfolio website… because there is always something to do, some changes to make, some photos to list on both photography shops… and new work to be done for the third etsy shop. i must confess that though this might seem a bit depressing, i mean it is the weekend, right? we are suppose to not work and rest, but i need to admit that the clichet “i love what i do” is true… and by doing what i love… it does not feel like work, but a pleasure… and i believe that i am working towards my dream.
asides from working, i usually take the chance to visit the flea market on saturday morning and i was about to leave the house to do so, but feeling so lazy to go to the other side of the city… that i ended up walking around my neighbourhood, taking some pictures of it. do you know i have a palace right up the street? (oh fancy neighbourhood!) well, it is not the buckingham palace, but if your prime minister, president or king visit us here, he will have a dinner there for sure… oh, and the president is also a neighbour! (again… fancy neighbourhood!)
as it is not allowed to take pictures inside, i stayed outside & took a few pictures of the building itself. it feels a bit strange on the back, because there is just one wall, but nothing else. i took a picture, but was not that happy with it, so i will take another and share with you later. after the palace i searched around my house for colourful doors, that i had found when i was walking mr kobe! and i fell in love with vibrant colour + textures + tile! i would love to own a place like this!
i see portugal as a pretty conventional country… with lots of traditions, fears and people that are full of themselves way more than they should. for several times in our history, we took a leap far bigger than we could and suffered the consequences, we are actually living the consequences of such behaviour right now. but on the other hand, we are this sunny, joyful and bright country, with striving people, that for decades moved away to other countries in order to make a better living. and now, the younger generations are doing exactly the same. the difference is that they speak several languages and own a degree. but i must confess that when i find this kind of architecture it makes me smile and think of us differently. these people knew beauty. these people knew about designing beautiful tile patterns… with rich colours… and these doors? these light green and turquoise doors i see everywhere? way to go! you have created a beautiful country! i just wish we knew better sometimes! we have so much talent! and this is it for today! see you tomorrow!
ps. did you catch the post about {advertising}? there is still room for you!
