when you buy a reflex camera, you think that you finally did it. unless you have a lot of money and your first camera was already a reflex… but if you are like me, money wise and not rich, you think a lot before making the investment, to make sure you buy the right camera + lens to get you started on the reflex world. i chose mine in a very careful way, and even asked for a bit of advice to talented lady {jackie rueda}. two months after i now have learned so much just by trying and exploring different approaches and also by reading a lot of photography magazines. one thing i realized soon was that the investment was pretty far from ending here. and by this i am not talking about upgrading to a better camera, i am talking about lenses, bags, filters, tripods, you name it… there is a whole world out there to be explored. fortunately i have a friend that has also a passion for photography and, from what i see, much more opportunities to make investments in this area than me, which is good… because from time to time, i get to try his things. here are a few results with different lenses.

the wide range of lenses is so huge, that sometimes you do not even know where to start, what to get, where to look. well, if you wish to take my advice, and i have one single lens (50mm 1.8), you need to understand what are you into, in the first place, and then look for photographers that share detailed information about lenses with their work, so that you can see what lens serves your goals. i love the tilt-shift lens, i would love to play with it for a whole week, if i could, but i had it just for a couple of hours! but for now, i know that i rather shoot something close than huge landscapes, for example. so that already gives me a hint! but the search keeps going! and what about you? what is your favourite lens? and what are you into?

You are so right! I bought my Olympus in December and I’m already thinking about buying new lenses and other accessories. And photography is just a small hobbie – imagine if I was trying to make a living out of it!

it really is a whole new world. I recently replaced my kitlense with a newer version still a. 18-55 mm. And then i got the 50 mm 1.8 , and I like it a lot! If I wasn’t a student and on a tight budget I would get a wide angle 10 – 20 mm ,and a telephotolense.
