interview with marianna

December 17, 2010 filed under: inspire, people

hola amigos, how are you? i am pretty well, thank you for asking! oh i must tell you something! a few weeks ago while exchanged a few emails with {meisi}, she asked me a little something… and i said a very proud yes. a few days have passed but today i woke up to this delicious {surprise}. gracias meisi, me encanta tu trabajo, fue un honor para mi! y ahora… we shall have another latin guest.

“i´m a self-taught photographer and photography is my oxygen. inspired by everything around me, my moods continuously play with music, books and movies to find new ways to express myself. i’ve been fortunate to meet a lot of exciting, passionate, and creatively driven people that inspire my work every day. i am a dreamer and i live in the independent states of my own world… i hope you enjoy the journey.”… says our guest.

marianna is the guest today, and is always an honour to have one of these latin ladies. i simply adore marianna’s strength & huge smile. she also has an amazing collection of selfies (almost in its end… a great challenge of a 365 project) & shares with us all her creativity. as usual, i asked marianna a few questions in order to explore more of her background… shall we start?

1. hello… how are you? can you tell me something that describes who’s marianna di ferdinando? hello! thanks for the interview. now i’m in full trip visiting a friend, so i’m running between trains and planes. i’m a bit nomadic and i can not sit still in one place for long. i am a strong woman, idealist and an unconditional lover of life and adventure.

2. You were born in… caracas, venezuela

3. And now you are in… … for how many years? barcelona, spain. the first time i went on vacation for a week in 2001 and fell in love with the city, I returned to venezuela and three months later i had moved to barcelona. in 2007 for family reasons i returned to venezuela and in june this year, i moved back to barcelona again.

4. do you remember what were you feeling/thinking in the day you decided to go abroad? i was very happy, was the first time i lived away from home and be in total control of my life in a city that i fell in love since the first time i stepped on it.

5. what do you like the most in your current place? everything! i can not choose just one thing. being in barcelona is a total wellness. i love the diverse mix of the city. the sea and the mountains. the life that the city has at all levels (sports and cultural) and quiet enough to walk the streets with my camera without having to worry about crime.

6. what do you miss the most from your country? i miss the country i left when i decided to go to live my own adventure. my family and friends, the warmth of the people and especially the wonderful weather and the beaches of venezuela.

7. let’s say that i’m going abroad for some reason… and i’m at the airport, on the departure side… your words for me would be…? live to the fullest everyday, listen to yourself and enjoy! every moment is unique and unrepeatable…

8. i would love to learn a word in your language (spanish)… what is your favourite word? libertad (freedom)…

{marianna di fernando via flickr}

oh i love these stories… i love to hear stories about those who just leave and embrace such adventurous lives. the challenge of facing new problems… from those great & small, meeting new people, starting to have the first friends, exploring every new corner… i really admire all those who embrace these experiences. so… gracias marianna, muchas gracias por tus respuestas, me sentí encantada con tu vida.

marianna also shared a few of her memories of caracas… & some of her favourite places in barcelona.

i hope you have the time to explore more of marianna’s creativity on her {stream}… asides from that i hope you are having a sweet friday! here is freezing cold… but of course, i believe that for some of you these lisbon temperatures would be actually great comparing to some other temperatures! but i love the cold… if i am inside of course.
