local markets :: joana c photography

November 16, 2010 filed under: giveaway, local markets, photography

hello there fellow readers! how are you feeling in this sweet tuesday? first i have to thank all of you that came yesterday to read brittni’s interview under this week’s special edition {blogging… by bloggers}, which is meant to enlight some of us bloggers that are still trying to figure out our way. if you haven’t had the chance, you can still catch up {here}… and later on today… lady victoria smith from {sfgirlbybay} will share her wise words too!

today we are going to meet another talented artist coming right from this corner of the world… another interview to promote the small and the excellent… to turn them into great and excellent! today we shall have a photographer. her name is joana and she is 29.

{blue sky}

can you tell us something about yourself?
my name is joana. i am 29 and i live with my boyfriend and three cats. we live in portugal, in the small but charming city of coimbra, famous for its university, one of the oldests in the worl. for a year i lived in barcelona where i did a master’s degree in organic agriculture, one of my passions besides photography of course! here are some random simple things that i love: traveling, the sea, lasagna, cats and dogs, chocolate, going to the movies, tea and coffee, walk, sleep, sunny days, old houses, swimming, stationary, strawberries, flea markets… and as you can see… making lists.

{birdie}

how did {joanac photography} start?
as long as i remember, i have been passionate about photography. a couple of years ago i started to post some photos on flickr until one day i received an e-mail from someone asking if my pictures were for sale. i had never thought of that possibility. i already knew etsy so i thought “why not?”… and joanacphotography as a shop was born.

what inspires you?
everything… the daily life, little things, the details that usually pass unnoticed and, of course, nature, movies, music…

{ginkgo giloba}

what advice can you give for those small business owners in our country?
i think i have learned the little i know from watching the progress of shops i admire. the main thing is to make sure you would want to buy what you are selling, have fun and above all else, do not give up! take great photos of your products, it makes all the difference. and read a lot of selling online! a good start would be to read all the tips in the {seller handbook} of etsy.

{rough sea}

what do you think would be helpful for small business owners in our country?
maybe we could do more joint initiatives between owners of small businesses.

and for the second time… {… a place for twiggs} hosts a sweet giveaway from this talented photographer.

{pink}

joana will offer this {pink} & delicate flower to whom collects more credits… achieving more opportunities to be the chosen one!

    I already knew Joana's work and it was love at first sight – I love the soft colors and the minimalism of the motifs. This is one of my favorites:
