Há umas semanas atrás recebi um convite para experimentar o Projecteo – um mini-projector que projecta fotografias do nosso Instagram. O projecto, financiado através do Kickstarter, pressupõe que escolhamos 10 fotografias do nosso Instagram para serem impressas em slides Kodak que vamos passando no mini-projector. E claro, depois de termos o mini-projector, podemos coleccionar quantos slides quisermos. É um voltar atrás no tempo misturado com algo dos tempos muito modernos – o Instagram.

A few weeks ago I received an invitation to try Projecteo – the tiny Instagram projector. The project, backed up on Kickstarter, is about turning your Instagram photos into wheels of 35mm Kodak slide film. And then you just need to project them on a dark place, just like the old days… along with something as modern as Instagram. Once you buy the projector, you can collect as many wheels as you wish!
Confesso que quando li sobre o tema, achei giro, mas não achei que fosse espectacular. Mas lá escolhi 10 fotografias e esperei que chegasse a casa. Só que a verdade é que quando se tem o mini-projector na mão e se vêem as fotografias na parede, não há como não adorar! É mesmo giro, tem imensa piada e é uma forma diferente de coleccionarmos as fotografias que tiramos no nosso dia-a-dia.

I must confess that when I read about this project, I thought it was cute, but not that awesome. But as it was a gift, I chose 10 of my favourite Instagram photos and waited for it to arrive home! But the truth is that when you have the tiny projector in your hands, and you see the pictures projected on your wall, there’s no way you won’t absolutely love it and think it’s actually so cool!
Juntando a tecnologia que nos permite hoje em dia fotografar qualquer coisa, em qualquer lado, e rapidamente partilhar com o mundo, há este lado vintage, dos velhos tempos em que nos sentávamos a ver fotografias.
Curiosamente em casa dos meus pais não havia slides, nem nada que se pareça, pelo que não tenho propriamente a experiência de ver mini-filmes de férias ou fotografias projectadas na parede, mas talvez até por isso mesmo, é irresistível! E deduzo que para quem tenha crianças, possa ser giríssimo contar histórias assim enquanto se adormece.

The way it mixes the technology that today allows you to capture everything, everywhere and share it with the world in a few seconds, there’s this vintage side, the old times in which you sat down to go through pictures.
Out of curiosity I didn’t grow up with slides around the house or anything, so I don’t remember anything like sitting down and watching mini-slide movies made during holidays or something. Nevertheless, and maybe this is why this looks so cute and irresistible! And I guess that for those with kids, this might be that interesting, imagine putting your kids to sleep and telling them a story out of your Instagram pictures projected on the wall of their bedroom, with the lights off!
