do you know betty? well, i know a betty, and you probably know this betty too. but i’m not that positive that you know the other betty! the one that means business! kate byrne is an inspiring woman that gathers the stories of other inspiring women. kate came to me a few months ago introducing herself, leaving a comment about amanda genther and how amazing this girl was! well, funny because i had been on kate byrne’s website because of amanda genther, because she had worked with kate to make her business grow!
amanda is that amazing, kate is that inspiring and obviously the results would rock as well! so kate has a business called betty means business! and i love this name! like a lot! kate was the last official sponsor of 2012 and today she does the honors! so let’s meet this girl, shall we?
hello there! how are you feeling today? so what can you tell us about yourself? hey there! i’m feeling pretty good today. summer has arrived here in australia, and i’m loving having all the windows wide open! i’m co-founder of a successful management consulting firm, and i’m usually a business strategist and senior executive coach… but i’m not able to work right now because of a debilitating spinal problem. instead these days i’m all about healing myself and blogging at www.bettymeansbusiness.com
i started betty means business because i wanted to create an online space to showcase kick ass creative trailblazing women who are killing it in their own businesses.
hum, very nice! when you think about your life and journey so far, what makes you proud? i’ve been proud of living my values, my academic and my business achievements, but my proudest moment happened earlier this year when i raised enough money to build a library in rural nepal. hands down the best feeling ever! (editor’s comment: wow!!)
do you know something… i will meet your best friend in a while… what could she say to me about you? she’d say that we’ll been best friends forever, and that when we get talking hours seem to just disappear, we always laugh, and life is brighter. she’d tell you that i can be pretty determined, that i have a competitive streak, and of course that i’m hilariously funny.
imagine that it is 1985… what are you doing? i love this question! in 1985 i was in primary school. i remember visiting the local library lots, swinging on the monkey bars with my friends, making a lot of art, doing back-bends and wearing woolen culottes in the winter, and terry toweling shorts in the summer.
in three words… can you describe me your work? healing and contributing.
let’s say i have a dream of growing my business (hard to imagine :p) and i hear of betty means business, what could you do to help me or inspire me? the posts at betty means business will help and inspire you by sharing behind the scenes info, practical how-to tips, fun creative challenges to get to thinking and taking action, and candid interviews with babes already killing it in business so you can learn from their stories. you could also check out my FREE ebook ‘kill overwhelm + make shit happen’ (editor’s note: now that’s a title!!). it’ll show you how to prioritize and plan everything you want to do and well… how to get down to business.
what would be your next step as a businesswoman? i want to keep inspiring women with creative entrepreneurial yearnings to get out there, do their thing and play bigger, through sharing tools and info they need to succeed. i’ve got some exciting things in the works. i think 2013 will be lots of fun!
if you think about your business, and your ups and downs, what do you think has worked for you in all these years you’ve been an entrepreneur? before co-founding my own consulting firm i worked as a management consultant for year, and through everything being true to myself is the number one thing that’s worked best for me. forget trying to fit in. concentrate instead on doing great work and putting yourself out there. your tribe will find you and love you for being who you are.
who do you admire that much that inspires you even more to do what you do? the women i interview inspire me. every story is amazing. bold creative kick-ass women who are taking action and chasing their entrepreneurial dreams make me want to go for it and be the best i can be too!
you can read all the interviews on kate’s blog and feel really inspired to do something on your own and with your own life this year! one thing is for sure, well two things, we are never ready enough to launch ourselves properly and it’s all about confidence! and usually when we start something new, confidence levels are not the highest, but must be! because it’s like they say, if we don’t believe in ourselves enough, who will to hire us then?
you can also go through betty means business case study by amanda genther, it’s also really good! and this is it for today!
ps. betty means business was the last official sponsor on the blog, as from january i’m not accepting new sponsors.
