so today, after pondering and pondering about my simple thing of this week, i though about one thing that i carry a lot – my film camera. i have been fortunate enough to be introduced to film when i was young, but i knew nothing about it. later (enter around 20 years later) i started being really interested in photography and suddenly i started to see a lot of film cameras and film photography as well. i was a fan of lomography and mr twiggs got me a lomo camera for our first christmas together. and a few months later i won an auction on ebay for a lovely yashica. and my love for film got even stronger. this summer i traveled with all my film cameras and i had a blast! unfortunately 120mm rolls are extremely expensive to develop so they are still waiting for better times. but these were a treat when i got them… summer vacations on film.
the last one is the only one taken in lisbon, it’s a close neighbourhood where i usually go with mr kobe for a walk. it’s really pretty with the huge houses and gardens. most of them are embassies, but you can find a lot of private houses as well. beautiful during summer with no doubt! the other ones were taken during my summer vacations in costa alentejana. oh i miss those days! summer in this side of the country is beautiful and absolutely relaxed, and let’s not forget that we can eat so well here! i loved the look of these images, i used kodak portra 160 and the overall mood is really summerish!
i also have a film photography blog, in case you want to go through more of my film photography! it’s not updated as much as this one (well, it hasn’t been updated since we moved actually), but for those who are interested in film and to know more about what others experience with different kinds of film and such, i think that is a nice place to visit! looking forward to see you there!
oh and one major news, i inherited from my in-laws two really vintage cameras, one is actually a video camera with 8mm film. i was thrilled when i got my hands on those beauties. they both belonged to mr twiggs grandpa when he was young. i’ll find some time to take photos of them to share with you!
so and how about you? are you into film cameras? let me know here!

ohhh you do wonders with film cameras! I used to use my mom’s nikon, because I enjoyed taking pictures, but I was a disaster with the film, I was always afraid I would do it wrong and then lose all the good moments I thought I had photographed. But the excitement when picking up the photos was something unique. I seriously consider returning back to film, and moreover to try lomo too.
I’m considering a Polaroid and I’ve also discovered this Polaroid PoGo Digital Photo Printer with Zero Ink which seems quite interesting.

well i haven’t heard of that polaroid i think, but i still have a SX70 on my mind, some day i’ll just hit the button of Add to Cart on etsy :) you should definitely go back to film, just for the fun of it. if you have important moments or occasions, do not rely on it, but have fun with it in the meantime. and don’t forget that probably you know much more about photography now, than you knew back then, so you might just give it a try!
