so almost in the end of this afternoon, here we are again with the usual feature of local markets! so today we have someone about whom i know just a little, but nevertheless what she does leaves me with a smile in my face. i spent a bit of this afternoon going through her blog, trying to find out more about this lady, what she does, why she does what she does, what she likes and dislikes, and though i have no answers to all of these questions, i still think she’s incredible, as she is another lady who doesn’t seem to be waiting for things to happen. she seems to struggle for a greater life doing what she believes in. and that, my friends, means so much to me and obviously i feel connected with this kind of plan as well. even if it’s not a plan at all. like sílvia says “she has no plans, just ideas” and some people live quite well like that!
alexandra durão is the lady who i’m talking about and she’s the one behind a project called mi mitrika.
i am completely in love with the gloves above! the colours, the design, the pattern, everything is absolutely charming and so calling my name! i love to add colour to my wardrobe in the winter, though i don’t do that that much, because either i don’t buy much, either because it’s hard to find colourful things to wear in the winter, that i truly enjoy. these would be so perfect! i’m crazy about anything with mustard yellow or some kind of green or yellow shade!
everything is made by hand, as expected, and alexandra has such a nice taste when it comes to combining colours and textures! she makes everything using national yarns and/or 100% merino wool. asides of this project, she also works in avesso, which is a bar/art gallery/café in esposende, which is up in the north of the country. you can also explore more on their facebook page, as they are having this nice giveaway with a basket filled with portuguese goodies! look at this!
do you want to win this? so click here and leave a comment! if you don’t live in portugal or didn’t grow here, most of these mean nothing to you, but what i can say is that we all grew with those chocolates and with black swallows everywhere in our houses. it’s something really unique about our traditions.
to buy anything from alexandra and her beautiful project called mi mitrika, you just need to wander on her shop and choose! there are delightful christmas gifts there for sure, either for your loved ones, either for yourself!
