if you’ve been reading blog for a while now, you already know my deep love for film photography. i love everything about it and it’s curious that sometimes i’m carrying my digital camera and all i think is “if only i had my film camera with me…”. curious how a $2000 camera and a $400 lens are left to the side in some occasions and all i can think is my $30 ebay old film camera. there’s just something about film that feels different! but as i didn’t feel there was enough space for my film wanderings on this blog i created another one just for film, because i want a special place for it. just for the love for film. last weekend i was updating the blog and spent a few hours exploring other film lovers and i found this lady – geneviève bjargardóttir.
geneviève bjargardóttir was born in 1985 and she lives in sweden, where she’s studying creative photography, and she’s also the author of the online magazine called inconnu. for what i know she has already lived in other countries and it’s delightful to browse through her berlin photos, but if you go through other sets like italy, spain or sweden you’ll be as delighted. i think that what i love the most about film, i see it on geneviève’s work. it’s a bit like daydream in film, charming colours, and a different exture, that only film provides to an image.
this last one is one of my favourites from her last posts on the blog. but i’m a lover of flares, so obviously i would love this one. film for me has a different character exactly because it makes us wait and appreciate things in a different level. it makes us take the time because there’s no preview at what we just captured, so we cannot take the same picture over and over again, until it looks perfect for us. film is exactly embracing that things are not perfect and that is perfect for us. film has flaws, scenes are captured almost the way we see it and most of film lovers do not edit anything afterwards, so it’s all about an honest point of view.

it’s interesting how her scandinavian roots affect her pictures! Did you seen this article about film yesterday?
