hello lovely friends, how are you doing? to begin with today, i’d like to thank all of you who showed your support and shared your feedback with me, about this interview! it was so important for me, you have no idea! as i know i can write a little bit too much, i thought that maybe no one would have the patience to go through all those questions and long answers, but you did and not only you did, but also took the time to leave me your feedback, so thank you so much! one another thanking note, i’m not sure if you follow me on facebook, but once in a while, i ask for opinions on my designs and i’m always astonished about the kind of feedback i receive! this morning this was the print i was asking for feedback and it was good to see that my doubts were in vain, as most people liked the current design!
and now moving on to our topic of the day – mrs. bertimus! where should i begin? well, it was when i joined papernstitch family for a bit of advertising on my fine art photography shop (have you looked for the super discount code over on papernstitch?), that i ran into mrs bertimus shop. i was in love with all those vintage-like fabrics, cute illustrations of dogs and such a cozy mood all around the photos! have you ever met mrs. bertimus? (i happen to love the name as well!)
so who is mrs. bertimus? i bet she’s such a kind lady! her real name is letitia thompson and i imagine her receiving guests over delicious hot tea and homemade cookies, having long conversations in a very british accent!
“hello chuck! i’m a part time fine art tutor, artist, maker of things and a full time mum. when i’m mrs bertimus i can enjoy playing with the little scrappettes of fabric, buttons, fripperies and fancies that i pick up on my (far too) frequent jaunts to the charity shops. my perfect day consists of copious amounts of tea and swizzles sweeties (especially the ‘mr.chews,’) a pile of freshly laundered charity treasures and screen prints to play with and a ‘murder she wrote’ re-run in the background. heaven!” (side note from the editor here – oh murder she wrote, i miss this so much!)
i never had a tea cozy before on my kitchen, but these are so lovely, that i just might not resist this christmas! and with a dog? of course i won’t resist! i also adore the fact that mrs. bertimus sounds just like a character letitia made up, that appears when she’s on her sewing machine with her pile of freshly laundered treasures! such a sweet story behind the business, don’t you think? i believe that stories like these are the true essence of etsy! and that is why etsy is such a great community of talented folks around the world! well, i leave you with enough juice to be curious about mrs. bertimus makings, so that you can run to her shop as well! you never know, you may find your first tea cozy, just like i did!
