in the world of beautiful things, emily isabella is there for sure! i found emily’s work though eva black’s feature called spaces. i’m a particular fan of these posts, because they show the office space of several creatives, some i already know so it’s wonderful to see where they work from every single day, others, like emily isabella, i had not heard about, so it’s pretty cool to find another exquisite artist and go through her work corners!
i fell for this beautiful and unconventional office. the details are so gorgeous and i believe they can make you somehow travel through time. the images that she features on her interview about her work space make me remind of my childhood and what i think might have been my parent’s childhood as well. the dolls, the prints, the odd things she saves… it’s obviously where emily seeks for inspiration and the way you can actually feel all that inspiration on her work.
“emily isabella is one part designer, one part illustrator and one part dreamer. together these make up the studio known as emily isabella illustration and design. as a child, she wandered her family’s prairie, pressing queen anne’s lace flowers against her cheeks, pretending they were powder brushes. her work reflects this idealism and serves as a reminder to continue to tap into our imaginations in order to create a better world.”
i absolutely love when artists do what they do to make this world a better world, if not at least a happier world, which is the way i feel when i look at her work. the illustrations are so pretty and cute, they make me smile and that means i’m happy. as she says on eva black’s interview, “the goal of my personal brand is to bridge the gap between childhood and adulthood.”
asides from the notecards, you can also find emily’s work in tea towels and prints, and currently she has been working with other companies to create a wallpaper collection, and a clothing line with her designs and illustrations. of course, one of her dreams is to be able to illustrate toys and children’s books!
