in times like these, with colder & rainy days and darker afternoons, most of us start to embrace a new season, and thinking about getting comfortable inside our homes, with candles lit, hot tea and homemade cookies. it’s around this time of the year that our homes turn into our secret worlds where we try to make them as comfortable and cozy as possible. the holiday season is also upon us, and with that comes new decorations, comfort food, family, friends and gifts. and sometimes i still wonder how come there are some people that actually don’t like this?! well, to make it even better let me introduce you to donna wilson!
and who is donna wilson? well, to begin with donna is this lovely girl above…
“donna wilson set up her company in 2003 after making odd knitted creatures for her final show at the royal college of art. the creatures sold out and since then she has built her business designing and making a collection of curious cushions, luxurious lambswool blankets, and variety of products for you and your home. originally from scotland, donna runs a studio and workshop in london. her hardworking team knit, sew, pack and send out products to individuals and design shops around the world – 25 countries at our last count!”
“passionate about creating products that people can connect with, the studio is committed to making things that our customers will treasure. we use uk based manufacturers and suppliers wherever possible, doing our bit to keep craftsmanship alive. in 2010 donna won the coveted accolade of ‘designer of the year’ at elle decoration’s british design awards. she recently exhibited a solo show of knitted sculptures and paintings, entitled ‘endangered species’, at the yorkshire sculpture park and has many other exciting projects planned for the year ahead.”
asides from all these products featured here, donna also has accessories, tableware and what she calls odd objects, with stationery and books, making kits and hot water bottles! i was so happy when i found donna wilson’s world, she amazed me with her imagination and i believe she represents all those creative souls out there with so many ideas and maybe a bit afraid to try to make those ideas see the light. her world is quirky, childish and very bold. it makes rainy days look colourful and cozy and with fall and winter ahead of us, this is the best combination we could ever have!
