yes folks, this is another new feature on this renovated blog! by the way, are you enjoying the fresh mood, the lightness of the posts, the new work sharing approach? i even published a bilingual post yesterday!
you know, i must confess something! though i’m portuguese and i love to read and write in portuguese, i always considered myself a well-educated person in terms of writing and speaking, but somehow in these last three years, after joining flickr, starting this blog, facebook and reading other blogs, english has become my first language, because i write/read in english all day long, every single day, i don’t have tv, so i speak portuguese with mr twiggs + mr kobe, whenever i go out shopping, regular errands and family + friends, when i’m with them.
so i kind of forgot how it feels like to have a written voice in my own language. actually one of the things that felt wrong on my other business blog, was the lack of voice i always felt when i wrote those posts in portuguese. so by trying to add some bilingual posts whenever i feel necessary (because i may feel i’m writing to potential clients or about my clients), is also an exercise for me to practice my own language again!
so back on to the topic, this simple things feature is about sharing simple things that i experienced and photographed. and today is about watching sunsets. have you done that lately? we did it a few times during these summer vacations and it felt so good… here are a few personal shots of that sunset we watched and some of my friends i camped with!
now tell me, what are your simple pleasures??

awww first of all about english / portuguese writing, I feel exactly the same. I read mostly in english and comment several blogs and photos in english, therefore it becomes more natural to write this way. But it’s true that Portuguese is such a rich language, that’s why I’m trying to maintain bilingual posts.
Regarding the photos, I just wish i could be there too!!! Amazing, love watching sunrise (but to lazy to wake up to watch it), love the sunset too, especially outside and in good company, the perfect day really. The extra thing is the coast, the sound of the sea, the sand… just perfect!
twiggs says
oh watching a sunrise… i tried that once, all cold and sleepy, but there i waited for something. it was a cloudy day, damn! :) so much safer to watch a sunset! have a great weekend!

these are such beautiful pictures, I love the late afternoon and evening sun.
Though english is my first language and mother tongue, I speak reasonable french and have several (mostly african) french speaking friends and sometimes find that I can only explain something in one language or the other, somethings are more suited to french and others to english I guess
twiggs says
thank you so much helen, loved your comment and feedback on the language issue!! oh and i feel that way too, some things are much easier to say either on one language or the other!

nem de propósito, olha só o que encontrei entretanto :)

ADOREI!!!!!

I went through a phase of writing my posts in both french and english, but now I seem to just write in english. I have a bilingual website but I feel most french visitors to my blog speak english well anyway. But there is such a huge difference in the way these two languages express themselves and I often find there is no proper translation either way to say what I mean!
