hello there sweet friends, how are you doing? for those who live here in portugal, i bet you’re loving the sun that decided to appear, sharing some warmth with us, right? well, last monday i shared one of my favourite blogs and a few weeks ago, jennifer had a giveaway going on her blog by morning calm. and though i usually do not enter these, i decided to participate and i was really happy when she wrote back saying that hwasoon decided to give something to the 2nd and 3rd winners of the giveaway and that i had been one of those lucky winners! i was really thrilled, because morning calm is such a beautiful shop, filled with incredible handmade soaps, lotions and balms. i’ve always felt curious to try these handmade things and now i had that chance! when the order arrived, i was like a little child unwrapping the brown paper bag and discovering all the goodies inside.
hwasoon had decided to gather a few handmade soaps (like the ones above), two lip balms, two washable cleasing oils and three little soaps heart and flower shaped. the smell as soon as i unwrapped the bag was amazing, i just hope that you could smell these from there where you’re standing! but now one question – who is hwasoon after all?
“i was a backpacking traveller for some years, a meditator and a teacher. but now i am a happy soap maker living in korea. i create cold processed soaps by adding a special curing step for 48 hours, keeping the temperature under 113℉ (45℃). so that the soaps have full saponification and retain vitamins, proteins and other abuntant nutrients in oils. the end result is beautifully mild bars of soap. i use asian herbs and organic tea leaves to get extra joy!! i’d love to share it with you.”
asides from the smell that comes from the package and every single product, the paper that was used to wrap each product is also really soft, adding much more to your customer experience. each product also has a tag with a handwriting type of font, that makes you wonder if hwasoon wrote each one by herself… i believe that she hasn’t, but nevertheless, is so sweet of her to use this kind of font, because you feel closer to the seller this way. and as you may have noticed, i’m extremely picky on customer service and love all these details that the seller puts into the order.
morning calm was actually a featured shop a few months ago on etsy, so if you click here, you’ll be able to read the full story and get to know hwasoon a little bit better. she’s incredibly sweet and i would love to see her doing all these soaps and preparing these oils and balms. when you use something that is handmade, and you actually know the face and the hands that worked in order for you to be enjoying that product is something really amazing. i put on some rose lip balm and the smell of those tiny roses was so abundant. and yes, after at least one hour my lips feel like i just used the lip balm now. you can also follow her on her blog and facebook, and of course, don’t go away without exploring her shop and why not ordering something sweet for you or as a gift for someone you love? enjoy your wednesday!

I don’t use products tested on animals, so since I was introduced to handmade cosmetics, I turned out the happiest person alive.
Didn’t know about that shop! It’s one of the prettiest shops I’ve seen! So clean and beautiful.. thank you for sharing, just added to my favorites!
