hello there lovely friends! how are you doing? remember me saying that i was tired of the gloomy, rainy and windy days? well, someone got my message and now we’re having 30º days, which is a little bit too much for me! yes, you may call me an unsatisfied woman, but i’m sure you’ll understand my frustration! can we go from winter to spring and from spring to summer, like on a slowly soft basis, please? this is terrible! it’s like october all over again when i was completely tired of really hot days! but well, now that i’m indoors and just dealing with a lot of noise coming from the work on the road by my house, let’s move on to the fabulous topic today – flowers! do you like flowers?
i bet you do! but let me tell you that i’m not a flower kind of girl… let’s just say that i don’t really expect or wish mr twiggs to bring me flowers. but i do love to see a beautiful flower arrangement! and as a blogger i’ve been seeing and getting to know flower stylists that do an amazing work! and it was also amazing and quite unexpected to realize that in portugal, there are talented ladies on that field as well! and today is about one particular person, patrícia lobato, the lovely girl behind outras flores.
i had heard something about patricia’s work, but hadn’t really paid all the attention i should have. until i started seeing her work on catarina zimbarra’s blog, another photographer whose work i admire very much (and she was already a guest here!), then as a vendor on simplesmente branco, and then i spent some time on her blog and was really amazed by her fabulous taste in flowers, the beautiful blog she has and the fact that someone was once again doing something so different and so beautiful. her work is often used on weddings and i think that flowers are sometimes a little bit like photography in weddings. a lot of people do it as it has been done forever, until someone starts doing things differently. wedding photography has changed through the years and i think that the role flowers play in such events also changed. different flowers are being used, different colours are being matched and flower arrangements are something in which you can be as creative as designing a wedding invitation. it’s not just about putting some flowers together on a vase… it’s so much more than that!
and then, if you match a beautiful flower arrangement with a fabulous and talented photographer like catarina, you’ll have dreamy and elegant images, combining the delicate moves of a feminine figure with the beautiful colours of a flower bouquet. and the truth is that i look to these pictures and i feel that flowers are the ultimate symbol of a feminine presence and sensitivity. maybe because women’s personality and sense of being may be as diverse as the number of flowers in the world. maybe because, as flowers, we can be either delicate or strong, wild or behaved… and so much more. and though not much of a flower girl, i love the way patricia works and the beautiful things that come from her hands and sense of style!
patricia is a designer with a passion for flowers and luckily for us, she has been working on that field for a couple of years now! she loves their colours, their textures, fragrances and origin. as a designer she found that she could express herself in a more accurate way through flowers. and after seeing her work, i just hope she keeps doing this for quite a while!
you can follow her work through her website and facebook, as well as go through her portfolio here!
