shop :: taking care of the business

because that’s what these things are, a business! hello my friends, how are you? did you have a good and relaxing weekend? not to brag much about it, but can i say that my weekend was just fabulous? of course, a certain amount of work was included, but at the same time, that felt really good. but i will keep those weekend things a secret and get to the work part! yes, this week we shall begin with a work topic, instead of just leisure!

do you know when you have so much work that you know that there are several things to do, but you can’t find the time to do those things, that you actually know that are necessary for your business? well, that is me all the time! but this weekend, on our usual retreat (at my mother-in-law’s home on the beach), with no internet connection whatsoever, i managed to organize so many things, business related. it’s incredible what the lack of internet might do to you. and sometimes it feels so good. so i organized a few things, prepared some others, but the most important of this all is that i feel much more in control right now, and i feel that things are organized. and you know how precious that feeling is, right?

one of the things that got taken care of was my vintage style etsy shop, a lomo love affair. though this shop is not only about lomo prints, i like this shop, because i can place here all my film photography (though i haven’t been working much on that lately) and all those pictures i take with a vintage style already (like these vespas above) and give them another vintage twist, using these through the viewfinder textures. these look like they are taken with really old cameras, filled with dust, but actually this dust looks like it has a story or many many stories to tell. at least that’s how i feel about these images i work on.

asides from working on this shop, making it look a lot more coherent, i organized something for you, which are the discounted print sets, which were a bit sloppy, i may say. so now you have several listings, dedicated only to discount sets that you can create. as a matter of fact, i get several emails asking for these sets, mainly because of the vespas and vintage look cars! so i thought, and instead of creating more sets by myself, to leave that choice to you… and you always know what is your discount for buying these sets! and as a customer i really enjoy that much clarification!

another thing i created (well, i sort of updated, because i had the document created) was an excel document to control all my costs & profits, listing every single cost i have every time i have an order, including etsy’s and paypal’s fees. this way i can manage your discounts and promotions that happen from time to time! therefore, i feel much more in control. i will prepare a post about these things, so that i can give you inside tips for your organization and business control! we need to be in control, don’t we? and now i’m off to manage more things & a pet that is asking me to take a walk!
