yesterday when i wrote this {post}, i was not saying that i would disappear to rest. though it may seemed that way. that is a good thought anyway, but that was not my idea. what i meant was, i needed to stop to think what i was doing, what was important, clear the priority list and start writing on it again. sometimes we do need this exercise in order to keep focus on what really matters. so, one of the exercises i have been doing lately is going to bed at a decent time. i am now a proud 8h-sleeper (yay!) and guess what? it feels so good!
when you intend to run a business on your own, stress will come, and overwhelming feelings will to. not always the good kind though. and that is what we need to learn in the first place. one of the things i taught in time management was that we need to create a flexible to-do list, which also meant that we needed to be able to look at our to-do list during the way and change things if we needed to. and that goes also for our priority list. among all things we start to do, we start to embrace, we start to accomplish, sometimes our priority list will get a bit confused. so we need to stop doing things as we have been doing and look at that list. take the time to think. take the time to just be yourself with no pressure. like if you had not a single thing to deliver in one hour. as i just read on facebook “only robinson crusoe had everything done by friday”.
as i already told you i ordered jose villa’s book. and one of the pleasures i have been giving to myself, asides from the 8h sleep, is to read a bit before going to bed. and this man has so many good things to share. but asides all his techniques and experience, he wrote something that made a special sense yesterday. he states the idea of creating and working your images as much as you can when you are taking them, and less before in front of the computer. and in the end he says and i quote “i try to avoid my computer unless i’m emailing a client, retouching, or designing an album. the rest of the time, i’m out in the world living.” now, how liberating is this? out in the world living? i feel fresh already just by reading this again!
we do spend too much time in front of our laptops. and though i love, i miss other things. for instance and the less intellectual example i could give, but i do miss laying in the couch watching some tv. that is such a simple thing, yet i do not remember the last time i actually did it. we do go to the movies quite often though. we try to do that, as we go out for a dinner… eat some popcorn and then watch a movie. it is our time together as a couple during the week. we should be outside living more, experiencing new things more. and i just might do that this afternoon to begin with. i will grab some new film and go some place to shoot! this way i will also be following one advice i received yesterday through a very good friend of mine, that started to be a client and now she is also a friend. she was honest with me and i so appreciated that honesty… and it just came in the right moment. thank you {marta}!

Claudia, I really understand what you are going through, and I am glad, that without reading your post from yesterday I wrote you last night just in the right moment :-) I know you will find balance, somehow just thinking about it and realizing that you need to start enjoying the simple things again and leave pressure behind is a step forward!
