hello good morning my friends, how are you doing? how are you feeling good for another week to start? well, if you are in a good mood today and not depressed for getting back at work, then i will share some photos from my vacations. as you may know i went to berlenga again, and berlenga is a small island near {peniche}, where mr twiggs was raised. the thing about this island, for us to spend vacations there twice in the same here, is that we do not spend that much money, we are close to nature and there is a certain mood and spirit there, that we cannot find anywhere else.
though it was considered one of portugal’s wonders and many arrive at the island thinking that this is a tourism prepared place, it is not. well, there are several a few things for tourists to see, but there are no roads, no atm, there is only one restaurant, that also rents 6 rooms to stay, one small cafe, where you can buy other things as well, like tuna or bread, public restrooms, one camping area, lighthouse, fortress, where there is also rooms and what they call “cubatas” (very small rooms inside the battlements in the fortress, where we usually stay), grottoes… and the rest is nature in it raw state.
so… the lights go out by midnight, to take a bath with hot water, we need to heat it, and take a bath by jerrycan… but it feels so good to be away from the city… just hear the seagulls and the sea. falling asleep with the sound of the waves hitting the rocks of the fortress, is precious… how can you not sleep well?
having dinner in a huge salon with everyone else that is staying there as well, each group prepares their meals, and we usually eat very well. i had the best summer dinner there… delicious grilled sardines with tomato, lettuce and grilled peppers salad… oh yum! i would go back to that evening!
this time we had all kinds of weather there, including rain and a small tornado. we had winds, foggy mornings and evenings, hot days… colder days as well… how evenings and fresh ones too. on the night of the tornado, i was actually up until 4.30am. the boys were playing cards in the salon, me, my friend and her daughter went to bed around 2am. her daughter fell asleep as soon as she recahed the bed and we talked for hours, we even got tired of being in bed and we got up and moved our conversation to the window. it was so hot that night. we could feel the hot air… no wind at all, which was strange. storm strange! then the wind would blow and would stop… lightnings were seen in the horizon on the sea. it was a strange weather. we went to bed, the boys arrived and we all fell asleep by 4.30… at 5.30 the small tornado would pass through the island. chairs flew and windows broke… i heard nothing! my sleep is that precious! but it was amazing… 5 days and batteries were charged! you will find more photos {here}.

It looks completely amazing and the weather sounds very Danish! :-) So glad you were ok in the tornado. We had them in Atlanta and they were always a bit surreal.
