hello hello, sorry i am so late today! i thought i had it all controlled but then things happen, phone rings, you start doing this and that and when you realize you need to go out and the stories are not written yet! remember this {confession}? it’s something about this, i know! so, today instead of starting the day with a {local markets} post i am starting with something that is as juicy as what’s coming next! lisbon is known to be the city of the 7 hills. that is why i envy so much those dutch friends with their beautiful bikes and flat streets. havinga bike might be a challenge here. but there is something about the hills that makes this city really beautiful… the viewpoints. there are a few and so beautiful. today i will talk about one garden & viewpoint that i visited last friday, which was also new to me. i had heard of torel’s garden, but the first time i heard of it, i thought it was quite strange, because i had never heard of it before and i was living in lisbon for quite a while. even more strange when you consider that when they talked about torel’s garden, it was supposed to be something amazing & fresh… with a unique view over lisbon. how was i missing such thing? where is that garden? and so last friday i joined mr twiggs and a couple of friends for drinks after work. which made the garden even more magical… because sunset in lisbon might be something magical.
torel’s garden is located on the left of the main avenue of lisbon (avenida da liberdade) if you are going down the avenue. there are yellow trams for you to go up, which is the very famous {elevador da glória}… which very “fortunately” were not working that day. so we had to go up, then down (the gate was closed) and then up again. but it was so worthwhile. when we arrived there the sun was even more beautiful, in its stunning golden tones. note that the benches above on the left have a separate bench for you to stretch your legs… how perfect is that?
so what do you think about this garden & viewpoint? isn’t it precious? people come to this place to catch some sun, read, stretch their legs (with a view and no payment required!)… and you hear nothing. i love when you are able to be at a certain point in this city and hear nothing at all, like if the city was suddenly empty. it is definitely a must-return place! you can see the address {here} and until then enjoy your day!
ps. i am back on more twitter addiction… will you join me {there}?
