hello hello sweet friends, how are you doing? feeling good with yourselves? i am a bit sleepy today, i went to the movies yesterday, went to bed a little late and then had to get up early to take mr kobe out! but it feels so good to walk around the neighbourhood that soon! people are leaving for their jobs and though it is not for a good reason, i feel kind of blessed to be able to walk him in a relaxed way, and then go back home and have breakfast together! joy to the world! so, moving on, because today will be one of those really busy days! today we shall have another portuguese artist… with a name that i find really exquisite. her name is mariana and her brand is called {mariana, a miserável}. something like… mary anne, the miserable. quite brave, don’t you think? let’s go on to meet this brave girl!
can you tell us something about yourself? i have been among bizarre love triangles and even things considered more squared, however i asked illustration on a date and she said yes! one step closer to the cliff and one step closer to a marriage of convenience, i have sold my heart to a souvenirs’ store to pay the bills… i am miserable.
how did {mariana, a miserável} start? i started by making a fanzine called {miserable}, then after a few years, after a series of happy coincidences, the name has served me like a glove and i adopted it.
what inspires you? everything… my thoughts before going to sleep… likes and dislikes, restlessness stories, my own stories, the next door neighbour, the mail man… bad luck in game, good luck in love…
what advice can you give for those small business owners in our country? listen to what your grandmother say and do new things with those words!
what do you think would be helpful for those small business owners in our country? places to share our work with others, developing more strategies to promote our work, lots of imaginations and sunny days!
mariana is a an illustrator and if you speak portuguese you will understand all the sense of humor behind her lines on her work. she takes well-known popular expressions and translates them into english. but a literal translation, which results in a very funny and apparently meaningless words for those who don’t speak our language! you can go though her blog (in portuguese) {here} and also her {flickr}.
