hello there sweet friends, how are you feeling today? oh my, i know that some of you are still in a very cold weather, but today we are having a summer day in lisbon. they say that it will be something like 25º c/77º f… so you can imagine my joy! i think mr kobe will be left alone once more this afternoon, because i am off to wandering days! though i must tell you… boy that yashica is very heavy! my poor neck! well, but moving on… i have to introduce you to someone! this lady is a photographer and her name is faith. how beautiful is this?
hello there! how are you feeling today? tell me something about you… hey! i am so thrilled to be spending a few minutes with you here on your wonderfully inspiring blog! my name is faith, i’m a stay at home mom to four (with baby number five due in july!) in my late twenties. i have a lot of interests but not a lot of time to spend on them these days. i enjoy music, movies, reading/writing, cooking (though i’m a pretty crappy cook right now) yoga & photography. i’m also a total blog and twitter addict. my latest interest has been reading (and a little bit of writing) of haiku poetry. the poems are so small, just three lines long, but packed with subtle meaning.
hum… interesting! almost a mom of five… that is one huge accomplishment! now let’s get going to the questions! what are you proud of? right now the biggest thing in my life, aside from my family, is developing photography classes geared towards helping other moms like myself, without a lot of time or money to spend on hobbies, improve their photography. i launched my first class in july 2010 and i am really proud of what i’ve been able to accomplish so far.
i’ve met a lot of wonderful women (and one super-awesome guy) and feel like i’ve made a difference in many of their lives. some have been students, some have been grandmothers, some have had basic point-and-shoot cameras, others have had the really awesome expensive dslr’s and they have come together from many different countries. i am constantly inspired by their work to become a better photographer myself and to develop classes that inspire and empower satisfying photography. because the classes are conducted entirely online i am able to work when my kids are napping or at night after they have gone to bed. it’s a rewarding and satisfying part-time job without cutting into my family time too much. i couldn’t be happier!
if i could meet your best friend for a cup of coffee… what could he/she say to me about you? i think she would say that i’m a gentle person, an encouraging, loyal friend with a smile that makes other people happy to be around me.
imagine that it is 1985. what are you doing? i love this question, it made me giggle. in 1985 i was looking forward to turning two years old and playing with my baby sister who is still my best friend.
in three words, can you describe me your work? simple. peaceful. honest.
let’s say i am a potential client… there are several courses out there… why should i take the course with you? that is another fantastic question! yes, there are dozens of other photography courses out there and some are taught by photographers with more professional experience and education than me, but i think the thing that sets my course apart from the others is that i’m easy to relate to. i work hard to write classes that are easy to understand for anyone no matter how little they know about photography. i’m a visual learner myself so there are always lots of examples in my tutorials and not a lot of technical jargon. there is also plenty of opportunity for interaction and feedback, which isn’t always present even in the more expensive classes. i spend a lot of time giving feedback to every one of my student’s assignments and replying to their questions.
what would be your next step as an artist? you know there are lot of things i’d like to do with my photography and classes in the next few years. one would be to develop a more advanced photography class. right now i only teach basic classes but i’m aiming to have something more advanced available for 2012. i’m also planning on taking some time this winter to turn my basics of slr photography class into an e-book.
a little farther down the road i’d like to start printing and selling some of my photography. it’s a huge step for me but it’s been a dream of mine for at least the past three years so i hope to be able to do that someday.
and this was faith! what do you think? i thought her answers were quite interesting! and we do need to think about the reasons why someone should pick our product instead of our neighbour’s product. it is ours, we do need to make it stand from the others and faith did an excellent job! so… if you are thinking about some photography courses… why not try this one? you can read more about faith on her {blog}… and of course… her photography courses are {here}! have fun!
