hello sweet friends, how are you doing? we are having quite a… well, i was going to say cloudy day, when i looked outside and realized that all those clouds were going away in order to let a light blue sky and sun appear. thank goodness, i was not enjoying that cloudy day, even a bit! so, today is {local markets} day and i will proudly share another talent. i am so happy because in these last few days i have discovered so many national crafters i did not know about, and it makes me really proud, because there are really talented and people with an exquisite taste here as well! so today we have a jewelry designer and the brand name is delicious… {les petites choses}… or in english… the little things.
behind this jewelry line are two women… mother and daughter. let’s know more about this interesting joint venture.
can you tell us something about yourself? we’re a mother and a daughter sharing the love for arts & crafts. outside the crafting world vera (mom) is a secretary and vanessa (daughter) is a communication designer.
how did {lespetiteschoses} start? our love for handmade things always existed! and since we already had so many pieces made, we decided to create a blog to show what we were doing and we got a great feedback that enouraged us to keep blogging about our creations and eventually sell them. it was a natural process.
what inspires you? we can say everything around us inspires us but we have a thing for feminine, romantic and vintage elements – we look back in time for references, we look into natural and floral elements and sometimes we just get inspired by certain color combinations or textures. surrounded by these elements we let our imagination flow when creating a new piece.
what advice can you give for those small business owners in our country? we don’t see ourselves just as business owners, we are, above all things, just people who enjoy to create things together, happy to send them to people who also love the same things as we do. i think that’s the advice i can give – if you wish to sell something you need to love what you’re selling and stay true to yourself – it will eventually put you in a position where your work will be recognized for what you have to offer – your creativity and skills.
what do you think would be helpful for those small business owners in our country? we believe that a national online selling plataform like etsy would be great – or like a big directory (online or printed) where sellers could be easily found and promote their works. there are great artists out there who don’t have a chance to reach larger audiences as they don’t know how to share their work.
these pieces are indeed feminine and romantic… and i also can see some traditional elements for portuguese, like the sewing machine and the swallow… it is also very interesting to see how a mother and daughter can be together in a challenge and adventure like this one. it should make their relationship even stronger, which is perfect… feel free to browse for more of these delicate pieces of jewelry on their {etsy shop}, but also on their {blog}.

what is {local markets}? a community dedicated to the very best portuguese talented & independent artists that strive for an original work and exquisitely executed handmade design & photography. once a week, there will be a special feature for these artists, to spread the word about their talent, to introduce you to new & fresh work. {local markets} is an original feature from {a place for twiggs}.
