oh yes, we are in the photography mood… hello there ladies, how are you doing? i am doing great, though fighting a bit of anxiety lately. it has been quite a new experience with this {fellow} living here. it seems easy, but it is not. leaving him alone for short periods to get him used to being alone… well, it breaks my heart and at a level that i did not know at this point. i never felt this before… and today i went for a run for 45 minutes and had to start right on the stairs, so that i would not hear him cry, or else i would get back there and hug him! so… i think that this week, blogging and my online presence will be rather for small periods too. i know, i know… for some of you this might be really a piece of cake… but it seems that it is quite hard for me now. he has been with us for three days and i know that discipline is really important right from the beginning! so… moving on… the oscars? did you watch the whole thing? i did not… but i saw “the king’s speech” and i really liked colin firth… but for best movie… i think i have my doubts.
moving on again… today i want to feature one of my favourite photographers on etsy. she has really amazing and creative images. i love her composition, her colours, her themes… backgrounds… she chooses magnificently what she wants to feature on her images. and they are almost magic… but in a different way from what you know as “dreamy photography”. this is different. this is “quircky, vintage inspired photography”… this is {the light fantastic}.
“my name is mandy and i take pictures. i’m a collector of happiness and a lover of quirky vintage treasures. my work is sweet, strange, and undeniably feminine. and it makes me really happy.”
mandy shared with us some thoughts about her work…
“i started photography right after high school on a whim, actually, and it was the best last minute decision i ever made. i had no experience, no camera, and no idea what i was doing. but the first time i developed my own print in the darkroom, it was magic. i fell so in love with film and light and drama, and it’s had a permanent affect on my work ever since.”
“my favorite part of taking pictures is looking for subjects and props. i love to spend hours walking through antique shops and flea markets, looking for lovely things that speak to me. i think i’m subconsciously creating portraits of myself with every photo. i love to show the world my opinion of what is perfect and beautiful and strange.”
“i’m so inspired by music, movies, books, and warm spring days. my biggest fear as an artist is that i might become a poor imitation of myself. i really have to push myself to be fresh and interesting, to push my own boundaries.”
what do you think? aren’t these magical? oh… mandy lives in such a beautiful world… i hope you can browse more through her work, because these get even better… there is the {shop} & {blog} & also {facebook}. will you join me there? see you soon!
