hello good morning (or afternoon) lovely friends, feeling good today? it’s thursday folks… ain’t that good? well, today i wish to start presenting you an amazing artist that probably if you are a photographer, you already know. her name is kristy and she comes from aubrey.
“the create process is as important to me as the finished product. burlap, aged postcards, pages torn from books, and stamped ink are a few of my favorite things to create with.” says kristy.
kristy is a master of textures. she is the lady behind {life-n-reflection} shop on etsy and also {texture shop}, a blog in which you can just search for textures and buy them directly. she creates textures that enhance any picture into a dramatic or poetic moment. you can see the use of textures in her own pictures and what an amazing result that is… i love this {summer winds}… i asked kristy a few questions. shall we read those answers?
hello there! how are you feeling today? tell me… who are you? i am an artist inspired by aging structures, thunderstorms, letters from the past, fields of rolled hay, rusting tractors, pattern of perfection imprinted on leaves, everyday items of yesteryear, and the wild tangling branches of old oak trees.
hum… now i have a few questions that might be different… but what are you proud of? i’m proud of the fact that i never give up on a dream, every mistake i make is a lesson learned, and with every step, i’m one step closer.
do you know something… i will meet your best friend in a while… what could he/she say to me about you? probably something about me always creating things – sewing lavender sachets, gluing moss to styrofoam, drawing garden plans, mixing up potpourri or spraying painting market finds!
imagine that it is 1985… what are you doing? i am a toddler riding our horse ginger boy, wrapping my arms tight around my sister as my dad leads around the farm.
in three words… can you describe me your work? modern meets ephemera or vintage urban country.
let’s say i am a potential buyer… why should i buy from you? my ebook {the science of textures: volume 1 & kit}, it was recently reviewed by photographer rebecca copper, on her blog {simples as that}. and she said: “an informative & pretty ebook filled with how-to’s and inspirational ideas on using textures on your photos, this book is an enjoyable read!”
what would be your next step as an artist? i’m thinking about getting back into portrait photography or designing photoshop actions.
considering other artists, what is your favorite piece of art? that’s tough one, my tastes are always evolving. i’m loving this print i have on my desk from {krista keltanen}, she’s artist from finland – it’s a photo of a delicate nest of speckled eggs in beautiful hues!
i think that this set of textures is my favorite from kristy’s work… and do you know how she named this set? {emerald paris}, isn’t it perfect? i love when names match the beauty of the images. well, this was our lovely artist for the day.

i love the one with the red barn, so soft and reminiscent of summer afternoons in the country. it’s nice to know she finds such inspiration in the little things of everyday life since those are the things that leave lasting impressions.
