hello hello sweet friends, fellow readers, new readers (hello!) and lovely people from around the world! it is thursday already? whow, this week has been passing really quick! mr twiggs is still in the netherlands, but he is coming on saturday! yay! well, yesterday was quite a day… besides being really busy all day long with a few (a lot) housewife tasks, i had the great news of being featured on decor8, and as you can imagine, that was a great honor! you can catch up {here} if you’d like! so today we are starting the day with another lovely artist that has become {a place for twiggs} supporter!
1. tie dress 2. swing coat 3. ruffle front dress 4. tie dress
emily is the lady behind these lovely dresses… and also behind these cute & adorable girls, as she is their mother. you can find her work {here}. as usual, to be a supporter you have a few tasks on your own… and one of those tasks is answering some questions, made to get to know more about the person, the artist, memories… dreams… let’s read about emily!
hello there! how are you feeling today? tell me… who are you? hi! i’m great, actually, thank you so much for having me. my name is emily. i live on the central coast of california. i’m married to a great man. i homeschool my two daughters. my husband and i both love to surf. i live a simple, yet abundant life.
hum… now i have a few questions that might be different… but what are you proud of? let me see here… i am proud of my beautiful girls, and the beautiful place i live.
do you know something… I will meet your best friend in a while… what could he/she say to me about you? uh oh. she’ll probably wonder why it’s been so long since i’ve called her. i totally suck at phone calls. but then she may say that i would do anything for her, and that we have aching bellies from laughing so hard.
imagine that it is 1985… what are you doing? in 1985, i was 12 years old. i had toothpick thin arms and legs, long stringy blond hair, and wore a prairie shirt and knickers. if it was 1985 now, well i guess i would still be wearing a prairie shirt and knickers, and i still have long stringy blond hair.
in three words… can you describe me your work. feminine, colorful, recycled.
let’s say I am a potential buyer… why should i buy from you? i think my stuff is special because everything is one of a kind. i use a lot of vintage and recycled materials. i pay close attention to how things fit. i only sell things that myself or my daughters would use, which also means, everything is made carefully with love.
what would be your next step as an designer? boldness… maybe. or perhaps, finding more ways to use recycled treasures. as i browse my favorite thrift shops, there is so much there to love. i want to be able to harness the potential in everything i see. from clothing, to housewares, to furniture.
what is your own favorite piece of clothing? now that’s a hard question. i’m realizing that i don’t keep much of what i make. i think my favorite may be when i see one of my girls running in the sand with one of the dresses i’ve made for her, and that it looks like it belongs there, on her.
