hello hello cold tuesday! how are you friends? doing good? are we all set for another four days of work? with this cold, i believe that we would rather be doing something else instead (i have a few ideas on my head in this very moment!), i had such a delicious weekend… i can’t wait for another one to arrive! so we are here for another {local markets} edition! i must tell you that lately i have been so happy with blogging, i have been receiving such wonderful notes (you know who you are) and then your surprise in finding out i am portuguese has been delightful! then there is also one other excellent thing… this amazing national talent i have been exploring and sharing with you. there must be something else we could do so that these people have their so deserved recognition. for most of the people these people do some little things, cute things… but it is as if they do not work. asides from thinking that their stuff is incredibly expensive! apparently it is like we must do a 9-5 job to have a real job, otherwise it is like little hobbies! well, let us get over this because i always want to be optimistic and try to have a joyful mood around here! we have a lady to present! her name is simple… ana.
can you tell us something about yourself? my name is ana raimundo and i’m a freelance artist from portugal. i like all arts in general, i’m also a kitchen artist since i enjoy a lot to cook. cinema and music are my addictions. i live each year in different places with a bearded guy and an 11 years old lady dog.
how did {fricdementol} start? since my early days i always liked to depict the world as i saw it, in paper or by other means, less conventional. when in college/university i chose the fine arts way, the only direction i could take according to my feelings, which gave me the necessary background to explore the universe of my expression. {fric de mentol} started when i was taking my first steps on the online world and trying to graduate in the 2nd course i was in, {new technologies of communication}. then i started using smaller supports and mixing other materials, the first wearable art results were born and so the need to share them on the online world, behind the freshness of {fric de mentol}.
what inspires you? everything can inspire me, every moment, thoughts, traditions, the textures, colors, shapes, smell, etc… i love mostly portraiture and native nature, the one that surrounds me everyday and representing it. having to move each year, i travel through different scenarios and that increases my cultural background, of course.
what advice can you give for those small business owners in our country? first we should love what we do, work hard on our projects with ambition, setting goals, having some sense of self-critique, authentic and exigent. never give up, involve ourselves, when possible with all community, the real one and the online one too. learn something new everyday. keep working hard and promote your work.
what do you think would be helpful for small business owners in our country? our country should be prouder and more supportive, respecting and recognizing the artist’s effort and their quality as we, artists, represent our country and culture throughout the world.
well said, ana! i would be really proud if we could just have different opportunities to enhance our talent. isn’t the government supposed to support those that strive to create their own job? i believe so… (i am feeling really political today!) well, ana is a great artist indeed and you can explore more fo her work {here}… or you could just say hello to her {here}… and show your support {here}! see you in a bit friends!!
