interview with meisi

and we are back! we are back for another interview about {photography}… this time another spanish lady… i really love her sense of style… so peaceful and warm… and a mother of four! do you know who {meisi} is?

“soy diseñadora gráfica y ilustradora… y mamá de 4 soles!! explorando, aprendiendo… con la cámara conmigo siempre! de momento estoy buscando mi camino para expresarme en este medio fotografico. Disfrutando muchísmo del trabajo de otros fotografos que estoy encontrando aquí.”

1. so, we are here to talk about {photography}… let’s start with a very important detail… where did you learn your way through {photography}? strictly speaking about photography (aperture, photo developing and such), i studied it at my bachelor of fine arts, but only for a year. i’ve always admired well-taken photos, mostly with people in them. but actually what i know now i have learned in the last two years.

2. what camera+lens do you use the most? i use my beloved canon 5d mark ii since august. my first reflex camera was a minolta x-300, then two years ago i was presented with a Canon 350d by a cousin of mine. later on, this cousin sold me his 5d. i must say, and i think everybody will agree, that 50mm 1.4 are the great lenses for me. they keep amazing me in every occasion. i use my 24-105mm a lot because it’s got a very good mix of wide angle and zoom. i have some wide angles (my cousin is an engineer and sold me his whole equipment) and a 70-300mm zoom.

3. what is your camera’s best feature? i’m in love with high isos… you can shoot with little light and no noise. and i am very interested in learning to use it as a video camera. canon 5d is now being used to film commercials and even one chapter of “house”!

4. three must-dos for you concerning {photography}! actually i don’t look for goals in photography, but the first thing that comes to mind is to finally be able to face selfies!!  also, to make an income out of my work. and why not, to purchase a beautiful turquoise photographer’s bag that {jackie rueda} showed me one day (sorry i can’t find the link to it).

5. favourite subject to shoot? i feel comfortable and happy shooting still life, home scenes, children and plants.

6. after taking pictures, do you use any program to process them? yes, i always use photoshop cs (a very old version of ps)

7. in three words… how would you describe your {photography}? clear, happy, day-to-day.

8. what inspires you to do what you do in {photography}? flickr mainstreams, always! i learn a lot from the photographers in there.

9. when you wander in flickr… what drives you to write a comment? sometimes i feel so breathtaken that i can’t help writing down a comment, when i follow one photographer’s stream i usually comment as well (but not as often as i would!)

10. would you like to try anything different from what you do in {photography}? yes! i consider myself an apprentice, and there are two things that i would do: learning landscape photography (according to my aesthetic views) and selfies, which i find specially difficult; and i must add that nowadays i have no tripod (my children broke it while playing) and no remote shutter.
