hello hello friends, how are you doing? it is friday! i am beyond happy with this! if i see this day coming to an end… i will think i am probably dreaming! i am so happy to be presenting the last interview of these series on {photography}, there has been such good insight on this matter. it makes me even more anxious about getting a new camera, i keep dreaming about lenses… yesterday was incredibly foggy all day long, and when i drove to work, i was hoping for long red traffic lights so that i could capture some trees, they looked so dramatic. oh and i also noticed that spring is really coming. i am already imagining that all that green rug among the trees will soon becoming yellow from all the little flowers blooming. but let’s get to the point today… and we shall have the last latin lady… {libertad leal}. libertad has a strong sensitivity, an amazing way of sharing her feminine side through her portraits… and also sharing her private moments of motherhood. i love her deep eyes… and i love this self-description of libertad’s…
“34. mother. wife. venezuelan living in the usa for over a decade. i love my children, my husband, vintage cameras, shoes, baking, the fall, rainy days and simple pleasures. i don’t like extremes, injustice, pettiness, driving and raisins.”
hello! how are you feeling today? hello dear claudia! i am doing wonderful, i hope you are too.
1. so, we are here to talk about {photography}… let’s start with a very important detail… where did you learn your way through {photography}? well, truth be told, i am still learning my way through photography. what i can say though is that photography was always a love of mine. it was an art i admired deeply for quite a while. when i met my husband i discovered that photography was also a passion of his and he was the one who bought me my camera and encouraged me to give it a try. he has taught me a lot and has been my number one supporter. together we have started a photography business and it truly is a joy to share this journey with him. i must also mention that for me the turning point came when i participated in jackie rueda’s {l’atelier} in january of 2010. that experience made me fall madly in love with photography and it taught me how to see and capture the beauty around me. since then i have tried to practice and learn more and more everyday!
2. what camera+lens do you use the most? nikon d80 and my trusty 50 mm 1.8.
3. what is your camera’s best feature? i hve to confess that i am not very knowledgeable in this regard, so i won’t lie and tell you all these great features and technicalities i know little about (sheepish smile). i can say however, that the d80 is very lightweight, fast and easy to use!!
4. three must-dos for you concerning {photography}! have fun, look for the best light and practice.
5. favourite subject to shoot? i absolutely love still life and all those simple everyday things that often go unnoticed. i also love doing self portraits.
6. after taking pictures, do you use any program to process them? photoshop cs4
7. in three words… how would you describe your {photography}? fun, fresh, honest.
8. what inspires you to do what you do in {photography}? everyday life, movies, music, the many talented photographers i come across everyday and an appreciation for all the wonderful things i have in my life.
9. when you wander in flickr… what drives you to write a comment? a combination of things but most of the time it’s just the way an image makes me feel, if it makes me think or if it speaks to me. i have to say i am not very eloquent with my comments but it’s just that the beauty leaves! me! speechless! haha. no, but seriously, i love being part of the flickr community. there is so much talent and support there, i read and appreciate every single comment i receive.
10. would you like to try anything different from what you do in {photography}? i want to get out of my comfort zone and do more urban photography and portraiture. i also want to focus more on black and white photography, which is my favorite. i know that sounds implausible given how colorful my photography is but it’s the truth!!!
thank you {so} much for having me on your lovely blog! i am truly honored to be part of this series among so many incredibly talented photographers.
un abrazo!
and this was libertad’s insight on {photography}, and the end of this amazing series of latin-american ladies. i learned so much… and i wish to thank all the ladies that came by to have a cup of tea or coffee, while having a quiet conversation about this passion of ours. we should really get together sometime! well, to be honest i have already told the girls that my dream trip is to south america, like spending a whole month traveling around those amazing countries… so i think i will need some advice! until then, un beso enorme a todas, me encantaron con sus respuestas! son divinas y llenas de talento! muchas gracias!

I had the opportunity to take”L’atelier de Jackie” with her, and during last year, i enjoyed her work. Every day, she surprises me with new things and I love everything she does. Libertad is a wonderful woman and photographer.

Libertad is one of my favorite persons in Flickr. She’s sensitive, warm, sweet and most important: genuine. The last year I’ve seen her grow so much as a photographer and I’m VERY proud of her. She’s trying to be herself and find her own photographic language and that’s not easy. Her work is feminine, unpretentious and beautiful.

Libertad’s work is so beautiful and as Jackie says really feminine, I love it! I adore her selfies and her still life shots (specially the ones with her vintage cameras!) Love the photos you chose, Claudia. Really reflect her wonderful work!
