“i’m a self-taught photographer, a life coach and a creative passionista. i’m from denmark and 36 years old. i love photography, it is like a form of meditation for me. women are my biggest inspiration and my favorite subject to photograph. i adore everything divalicious like french macarons, vintage dresses and dazzling pink flowers. i believe every woman is unique and beautiful and that life is to short to hesitate and worry.”
let us meet {christina greve}… the exquisite photographer.
hello! how are you feeling today? i’m feeling great and i’m so happy to be here on your amazing blog twiggs. what an honor!
1. so, we are here to talk about {photography}… let’s start with a very important detail… where did you learn your way through {photography}? i’m self taugth – never took a class – sometimes I wish I did – but ever since I picked up my camera life has been lived in the fast lane… lol… i think that networking and finding inspiration on flickr made me want to learn fast – it´s only one and a half year ago since i started photographing. the beautiful images i saw on flickr made me want to do better and made me push myself outside my limits. So i guess i learned the hard way – by making loads of mistakes and then correcting them!
2. what camera+lens do you use the most? ohh i still shoot with my first baby a simple sony 300 a – it is not the best camera on the marked but i must say i did make some pretty good pictures with it – i love it. i just bought a canon 7d though and now my daughter is taking over my old camera. it’s important for me to say that good photography is not about equipment but about the eyes and the mind that use it. i almost always shoot with my all time favorite lens the 50 mm 1,4 f. i am addicted to prime lenses and hardly never shoot with a zoom lens.
3. what is your camera’s best feature? me… lol… but also i love the exposure compensation control button which help me control the light. photography is based on light and as a photographer i always chase the perfect ligth.
4. three must-dos for you concerning {photography}! 1. never ever be hard on yourself – don´t criticize your own work – just look for ways to do better. 2. practise, practise and practise even more! when i first bought my camera i thought that taking photos was all about clicking on the shutter button… i still laugh about that… the more you involve yourself in the world of photography the more you see that you will never stop learning. 3. don´t copy someone elses work – respect other photographers, be inspired by them but find your own style. finding your own style is a journey that can’t be rushed and if you don’t enjoy that journey maybe photography is not for you.
5. favourite subject to shoot? gosh, of course it´s women – i adore making portraits of women. i love everything from the styling to the shoot to the editing. when i edit a face in photoshop i go into flow state – i forget time and place. i know it sounds odd but i’s my meditation.
6. after taking pictures, do you use any program to process them? yes i always process every photo in photoshop elements 7 or 9. i have photoshop the full version but i never use it. in the beginning i used picnic which is really good for beginners – i recommend that too.
7. in three words… how would you describe your {photography}? romantic, sensual and feminine.
8. what inspires you to do what you do in {photography}? ohh difficult question… hhmm… i think i’m driven by the wish to show women how beautiful they can look. many women are so hard on themselves and many are unhappy with their body. when i work with a woman i make an effort to show her just how unique she is.
9. when you wander in flickr… what drives you to write a comment? when i see they really made an effort to make something beautiful and creative.
10. would you like to try anything different from what you do in {photography}? no, i love exactly where i am today but i might want to travel some more to work on projects abroad. i would love to go to nyc to do some work this year – a girl can dream right?!
oh my these were some amazing answers… christina dear, you as the best feature of your camera is from far the best answer ever! i so believe that! i know that cameras have some great high quality features, and when we want to upgrade it is somehow to meet our expectations that are no longer being met with the one we have. but our eyes… our minds… our wishes are the most important. we can do things based on those… that may leave others speechless! thank you so much, christina! it was such, but such a pleasure to have you & learn more about you! and for you dear friends… we are almost on the end of this {photography… by photographers} insight guide! i hope you are enjoying this! would you like to find more about {christina greve}’s work? sneak-peek {here} & {here}!
