{happy new year}

how was your holiday weekend? i hope you had the most fabulous new year’s eve with your friends + family. i gathered with another couple of friends and there we went to sierra nevada to catch a little of a winter wonderland… and hopefully i would learn how to snowboard. well… i can not say that i learned in its full meaning, but i am independent with a board under my feet and let me tell you, oh boy that is not easy as it looks.

and i also must confess that for someone with balance issues like i have… it carries an extra difficulty there… but what better way to start of 2011 with a little (or huge!) challenge? indeed my first day in 2011 was spent mostly on the ground, fall after fall… trying to manage that thing. but then my photographer soul would stop and absorbe everything around… the huge white mountains, the bright blue sky, the falling snow… and i would ask the sweet & patient mr twiggs “can i just take a picture?”… and the answer would be… “i am really hungry and there is still a long way down for you…” and i would get the message.

but then, in the afternoon, i was all by myself, balancing myself on the snowboard + falling while going down the mountain, but at the same time, i could stop and take all the pictures i wanted to. the result… all these that i brought to you today from the winter wonderland witnessed.
