How many of you know every corner of your town? And by this I mean… How many of you have visited museums, art galleries, monuments, churches, palaces…?
Probably not many, I suppose. But it’s kind of usual though, that we spend our spare time, holidays, and money in getting to know other places… most of the time, foreign places. Actually, this has a very simple reason… we do this because our place will always be there. Maybe when we grow old, we’ll get to spend time in discovering it.
However, I think this is not the way we should go. I believe that we must know our place very well, before knowing foreign places.
How can we appreciate other’s treasure’s of we don’t know our own treasures?
This thought walks with me every time, and one of the things I love to do is to wander in Lisbon, just like a tourist, but a tourist with an advantage… because I can go home at any time, I don’t need a map… and I speak the language… and of course, I know those special places, that don’t get visited often by tourists and therefore are made for us, that actually live here! Not that this is something wrong, but as you know in every city, there are always restaurants, cafes and shops made only for tourists… this also and often means high price!
So… my advice is…
{take the time to know your place… it’s there waiting for you… you’ll appreciate it so much! I Promise!}
