{destiny}…
“…refers to a predetermined course of events. It may be conceived as a predetermined future, whether in general or of an individual. It is a concept based on the belief that there is a fixed natural order to the cosmos.”
When I first started to write my thoughts… they had a meaning. I needed to write (not necessarily to share, at least at first)… I needed to think about my path… my course in this world, because somehow something needed to be changed. When we finish college, we think about conquest… strive… and these words are mainly about a professional world. Emotions are meant to be in second place.
I remember my mother asking about some personal affairs… and I answered quickly “Mom, nowadays we no longer think about marriage and kids… we want to travel, we want to strive for excellence, we want to discover other places in the world, we want to work abroad… those things are not important right now!”
Well… feelings change.
What is not important at some point in your life… maybe becomes the most important thing that you look for.
Feelings change. Time changes. We change.
But my question is…
{do you believe in destiny?}
{is our path meant to be?}
We sometimes try to make things happen. And somehow I agree that we must to. But when the things that we want, get so difficult to obtain, to conquer… are those meant to be away from us? Or aren’t we striving enough?
We’re currently looking for another place to live….but our search is relaxed. If we find something that fits our goals, we’ll think about it. If not… well… we love our nest :) And today I visited this amazing apartment close to one of the main avenues in Lisbon. Oh, what a delight! But I can’t choose all by myself. It’s meant to be a decicion made by two. Not one. So, we’ll wait. We’ll talk and I’ll explain how amazing was the apartment! We’ll call. No one answers the phone. We’ll e-mail the agency to make a reservation. No one answers the e-mail… will they call in the morning saying “Your reservation has been accepted!”… or on the other hand “We’re sorry, but we already rented that flat…!”?
Either way… my thought for today is “If we’re meant to live there… we’ll live. If not, something better will come up!”
So, although I believe in striving…
I also believe that some things are meant to be in our path.
Sometimes we don’t quite understand why those things happen that way…
… and time has the main responsability in explaining us the reasons…
… or lead us to find those reasons ourselves.
I believe in striving.
I believe in peace…. peace that comes to you when accepting the good and the bad stories you’ll be able to tell when you grow older.

One of the best post I have come across. I am strong believer of destiny. I give my best shots to make things work. if they still don't I think something better is in store for me.

Thank you so much!!! I believe in that too! Strive and accepting that sometimes what I want is not supposed to happen to me and therefore, I must strive to respond to what is happening to me in that very moment! Have a lovely week!

I agree with you about things happening or not for certain reasons. It is so true!
My experience has shown me that these reasons lie within us and do not lie in a force outside us, such as destiny. We are and we create our own destinies. Sometimes we aren't ready for what we wish to have or live ( and we aren't aware of it! – but our inner self is wise) and it will not ever manifest just because we want it very much or strive!
All manifest in life in the right time, both pleasure and pain. I believe in life's and existence's wisdom.
Sometimes we just don't see that we wish for things that simply cannot happen and we ignore the signs. We are too connected to our wishes, ambitions & dreams….I find that as much as we might be attached to all of the above ( especially when they involve things and aquisitions), we should also be ready to adjust to a new given reality.
And to talk about destiny….which I name existence/ life's wisdom, it is so often that it knocks on the door of people throughout their lives…but not all are ready and brave enought to open….and this is also ok…I've known such few cases.
To make the best of the choices in life, one must get in to very close touch and deep awareness of himself/herself.
Patience and humility are also useful and strong helpers along our ways…it's a tough balance to keep…but it's like everything in life, once we get familiar with it…we are more comfortable.
My dear, just a small tip of advice if you'd like to maybe consider:
Don't look for crossroads, you are already standing on one!
Life is a continuous crossroad, every day, every hour, every second of it!
Make a choice!..with a full heart and an alert mind.
Happiness also lies in accepting that we cannot always have whatever we wish for, when we wish for it.
Can we imagine a world where everybody would get all he/she ever wanted continuously?…there would come the end probably soon…all resources would be exhausted….as the truth is that we All want to have more!
But there has to be balance & life/existence itself care for that.
All will come when the time is right and when we are ready for it.
Actually, to finish this long expression of thoughts & considerations, I find that when we are ready, things simply happen effortlessly. No, it's not just because we got lucky but also because we had previously strived a lot for something we wished for, but also learned to live without it.
What is it you so much wish and doesn't come your way dear Twiggs?
All shall come your way in time, with patience and for the best reasons!
I see so many new things having come your way lately dear Twigss, from your relationship, to exploring your creativity, discovering beautiful places and making such nice pictures of them!…to name only but a few…I hope that these can offer you happiness and balance this kind of bitter feeling of not everything manifesting as you wished…just for now ;-)
Wishes for a lovely new week in a new month!

My sweet sweet friend,
First of all I thank you so much for your words. You witnessed this blog's birth and you, of all people, know for sure what this is for… It's meant to be a place where I share thoughts and emotions, and of course, all I wish for is that someone reads it and, by reading feels the urge to also share his/her thoughts with all readers (although just a few at this time :)) and slowly this has been accomplished.
Your words mean so much to me, mainly because I find you a person of heart, wisdom and innocence, not because you're naive, but because you have a strong heart and yet a very kind one… a heart that recognizes and looks for beauty in every day that goes by, that looks for happiness in small but so meaningful things… that is in touch with its feelings and keeps in its way because it feels right.
About my words and yours, I don't quite think that they are in different places, I also believe in all those thoughts you wrote. I believe that things happen for a reason. I believe that things don't happen just because we want to, and I'm glad that's how things happen. I believe that sometimes we don't understand why things happen that way, but later we will… and also I believe that things also happen when we are ready to cope with them… even if coping with them feels so hard, but in the end it will be substancial for our growth, because I also believe that good/happiness is needed (and we look for it) but also the sad things and not so right choices are needed sometimes so that we learn how to grow up in an healthier and wiser way. We become stronger when we face difficulties, and (although a clichet) we are more prepared to receive the good things.
Have a lovely evening my dear!
And always feel at home in {…a place for twiggs} :)
